Orkuveita Reykjavíkur: Ari Edwald Appointed Chairman of Reykjavík Energy's Board

The adjourned Annual General Meeting of Reykjavík Energy (Orkuveita Reykjavíkur) was held today, 20 August 2026, at which the election of the company’s Board of Directors was formally confirmed. The Board members are elected by the municipal councils of Reykjavík Energy’s owners: the City of Reykjavík, the Township of Akranes and the Municipality of Borgarbyggð.

City Councillor Ari Edwald was elected Chairman of the Board. He holds a degree in Law and an MBA, and has executive leadership experience, having served as Chief Executive Officer of both 365 Media and MS Iceland Dairies (Mjólkursamsalan).
The Board of Directors of Reykjavík Energy is composed as follows:

• Ari Edwald, City Councillor, Chairman
• Einar Þorsteinsson, City Councillor, Vice Chairman
• Ásta Dís Óladóttir, Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Iceland
• Ragnar Baldvin Sæmundsson, Municipal Councillor in Akranes
• Ragnheiður Björk Halldórsdóttir, Industrial Engineer and Sustainability Consultant
• Skúli Helgason, City Councillor

Sigurður Guðmundsson is an attending member of the Board, representing Borgarbyggð.
Alternate Board Members are: Magnea Gná Jóhannsdóttir, Brynjar Níelsson, Heiða Björg Hilmisdóttir, Auður Hermannsdóttir, María Sigríður Guðjónsdóttir and Liv Aase Skarstad. Ragnhildur Eva Jónsdóttir serves as alternate attending member.
