WEBUILD AWARDED CONTRACT WORTH NZ$439 MILLION ( €225 MILLION ) IN NEW ZEALAND
FOR CH RISTCHURCH MEN’S PRISON PROJECT
AROUND 10,000 PEOPLE EMPLOYED ACROSS ASIA -PACIFIC REGION
WITH A SUPPLY CHAIN OF MORE THAN 3,600 COMPANIES SUPPORTING LOCAL GROWTH

MILAN , July 28, 2026 – Webuild bolsters its presence in the Asia -Pacific region with the award ing of a contract worth a total of NZ$ 439 million (€ 225 million ), of which NZ$308 million (€157 million) attributable to Webuild ) to refurbish and expan d the Christchurch Men’s Prison in New Zealand. The project will be delivered under a public -private partnership (PPP) promoted by the New Zealand Department of Corrections.
The award is part of the Group’s growth strategy in the Asia -Pacific region, where Webuild also operates along with its Australian subsidiary Clough . In Australi a, Webuild ’s largest market outside Italy by revenue , the Group employs approximately 10,000 people and is support ed by a supply chain of more than 3,600 companies in 2025, 90 percent of them local. Webuild and Clough are delivering some of the country’s most significant infrastructure projects, including Melbourne’s North East Link, Perth’s New Women and Babies Hospital, the Snowy 2.0 hydro electric project and a 220 MW gas -fired power plant in Kwinana.
The award marks Webuild’s return to New Zealand , where the Group previously contributed to the development of the Tongariro Hydroelectric Po wer Scheme, one of the country’s most significant renewable energy projects that played a key role in the development of New Zealand’s national energy system.
Located in Templeton in western Christchurch , the prison is strategically important to New Zealand’s prison system . The project includes the construction of new facilities and infrastructure to enhanc e the prison’s operational capacity and support the development of the country’s correctional model.
The new facilities will be developed in accordance with the standards of the New Zealand Department of Corrections . They will incorporate design solutions to strengthen security, operational efficiency and the quality of the environment for both staff and inmates. The project will also support rehabilitation and reintegration program mes, in line with the objectives of New Zealand’s correctional system.
The PPP brings together Plenary, Webuild and New Zealand -based Leighs Construction , with d esign and construction activities to be carried out by Webuild and Leighs Construction . During the construction phase, the project is expected to employ approximately 600 people , supporting local suppl y chains and creating economic and professional development opportunities across the Canterbury region.

Abroad, there is the Snowy 2.0 hydropower scheme in Australia and key sections of the Grand Paris Express in France. As of December 31, 2025, the Group reported total revenues of €13.6 billion and a total order backlog of €58.4 billion, with over 95% of the construction backlog aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
