Best month ever in Marconi Airport's history
Bologna Airport has set a new passenger record. In July, despite the uncertainties related to the geopolitical situation, Marconi Airport handled 1,136,375 passengers , with an increase of 3.0% compared with the same month in 2025. This marks the best month ever for Emilia -Romagna's leading airport.
The strongest growth was recorded in international traffic , which reached 842,246 passengers , up 3.8% on July 2025. Domestic traffic also increased, with 294,129 passengers , representing a 1.0% rise compared with the same month in 2025.
Aircraft movements in July totalled 7,849 , up 3.3% year-on-year, while freight reached 4,184 tons , with an increase of 4.1% compared with July 2025.
Monday, 27 July , was the busiest day of the month, with 40,105 passengers travelling through the airport. More broadly, the average daily traffic in July was approximately 36,600 passengers , the highest ever recorded by Marconi Airport. Considering that Bologna's Dall'Ara football stadium has a match capacity of around 36,500 seats, it is as if the airport passengers had filled the stadium every day for 31 consecutive days.
The most popular destinations in July were Catania, Tira na and Barcelona , which again ranked in the top three positions, followed by Cagliari, Palermo, Brindisi, Olbia, Bucharest, Istanbul and London Heathrow, completing the month's top ten destinations.
In the first seven months of the year , Marconi Airport ha ndled a total of 6,621,616 passengers , up 3.5% compared with the corresponding period in 2025. Aircraft movements between January and July totalled 46,935 , with an increase of 2.9% , while freight amounted to 25,097 ton s, down 4.7% compared with 2025.
