BOLOGNA AIRPORT: 1.1 MILLION PASSENGERS IN JUNE (+2.5%)
Third consecutive month with more than one million passengers, despite ongoing
international uncertainties
Bologna Airport continues to grow. In June, In June, despite international geopolitical uncertainties , passenger traffic at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport passenger traffic exceeded one million , reaching 1,095,281 passengers , up 2.5% compared with the same month in 2025. This marks the third consecutive month in 2026 in which passenger numbers have exceeded one million.
International traffic recorded the strongest growth, with 813,254 passengers , an increase of 2.9% compared with June 2025. Domestic traffic also grew, reaching 282,027 passengers , up 1.3% year-on-year.
In June, aircraft movements totalled 7,644 , an increase of 2.3% compared with 2025, while air freight volumes amounted to 3,712 tonnes , down 1.2% compared with the same month last year.
Friday, 26 June , with 40,412 passengers travelling through the airport, was the busiest day of June and of the last six months.
The most popular destinations in June were Catania, Tirana and Barcelona (as in each of the previous six months), followed by Cagliari, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Palermo, Brindisi, Istanbul, Bucharest Otopeni, Madrid, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Olbia, Munich and Vienna . These destinations each recorded more than 20,000 passengers during the month.
In the first six months of the year, Bologna Airport handled a total of 5,485,241 passengers , representing an increase of 3.6% compared with the corresponding period in 2025. Aircraft movements in the January –June period totalled 39,086, up 2.8%, while air freight volumes reached 20,912 tonnes, down 6.3% compared with 2025.

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna , classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre -north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2025 11.1 million passengers, ranking as the seventh biggest Italian airport by number of pas sengers (Source: Assaeroporti – Aeroporti2030).
