Wallenstam has signed a lease for Happy Days’ establishment at Polhemsplatsen 1. The restaurant will open in summer 2027 with an American street food concept and is thus establishing itself in one of the city's most prominent locations. The property, which has recently undergone an extensive reconstruction and extension, is located close to the Central Station, Ullevi and Gothenburg’s major event district.
“For us, it is important to create vibrant urban environments where people want to meet and socialize. Happy Days will be a welcome addition to the area around Polhemsplatsen,” says Marina Fritsche, Vice CEO and Regional Director of Wallenstam in Gothenburg.
Happy Days’ concept is based on American street food with a focus on craftmanship, quality and accessibility. The concept combines a classic diner feel with modern influences and offers, among other things, burgers, hot dogs, daily home cooking specials, and a wide selection of drinks. Following the success of their current restaurant on Friggagatan, the two owners, Philip Axen and William Björklund, are now taking the next step and opening a larger unit with more seating, a wider range of dishes and a natural meeting place in the heart of the city.
“We want to create a place where people can meet before a concert, after a match or just for a really good meal together. The natural choice for anyone who appreciates really good street food in a relaxed and lively atmosphere at an attractive price,” says Philip Axén of Happy Days.
The new restaurant will cover almost 250 square meters and will have a location with large windows facing the street, as well as the option of outdoor seating. The location offers a natural flow of customers from residents, workers, commuters, and visitors, while the area will get an extra boost during concerts, games, and other major events in central Gothenburg.
