Swedish company Frost Unmanned signs Commercial Agreement with French Alta Ares regarding Advanced Unmanned Systems
Swedish unmanned systems company Frost Unmanned AB and French defence technology company Alta Ares have signed a cooperation agreement for the joint development of a high-performance European jet-powered unmanned aerial system based on Frost Unmanned’s high-speed Tracer 160 UAV.
The cooperation aims to combine the Tracer 160 platform with advanced sensor, communication and guidance systems for reconnaissance and strike missions. Ukraine is the initial market, while the cooperation also establishes a foundation for future joint ventures in the European and international defence markets.
The agreement was signed in Gothenburg in the presence of Sweden’s Minister for Defence, Pål Jonson, who witnessed the signing ceremony.
“The agreement is another example of how small and agile Swedish defence companies are working with other European partners to build defence capabilities in important new segments, and of how well French and Swedish relations has developed in recent years,” said Pål Jonson.
During the visit, the Minister for Defence also inaugurated Frost Unmanned’s new production operations, marking an important milestone for the company as it moves from development and verification to production, industrial and commercial phases.
The Minister also attended a demonstration of Frost Unmanned’s unmanned maritime platform, Arrow 600, and wished the platform success ahead of its participation next month as part of Team Sweden at NATO’s REPMUS exercise in Portugal. Arrow 600 is also based on a modular architecture and can be configured for reconnaissance, surveillance and strike missions.
