Safnasafnið Art Museum Presents Storyteller: Rare Works and Drawings by Haukur Halldórsson

SVALBARÐSEYRI, ICELAND — The Icelandic Folk and Outsider Art Museum, Safnasafnið, is pleased to present its current exhibition, Sögumaður (Storyteller), featuring previously unseen line drawings, sketches, models, and sculptures created over three decades by the late Icelandic artist and illustrator Haukur Halldórsson. His daughter, contemporary artist Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir, curated the exhibition, which offers close insight into the artist's broad creative imagination, his mythical worldbuilding, and his distinctive working method.

Sögumaður highlights Halldórsson's deep artistic engagement with world cultures, folklore, polytheism, and Old Norse mythology. The exhibition, which includes works spanning decades, shows the wide range of historical styles Halldórsson has adopted, combining artistic features from antiquity, the Romantic period, and modern practice.
