Regulatory approvals in Slovakia and Egypt
Eden extends its European footprint and secures its first authorisation for Mevalone® in North Africa
Eden Research plc (AIM: EDEN), a leader in sustainable biopesticide and biocontrol technologies, announces it has received regulatory authorisation for its Botrytis (grey mould) fungicide in two further territories: Slovakia, where the product has been registered as Mevalone®, and Egypt, where it has been registered by Eden's commercial partner as Trilogy™.

Slovakia

Slovakia
The Slovak authorisation for use on grapes and pome fruit was granted in July by the Central Control and Testing Institute of Agriculture (ÚKSÚP). The product will be commercialised in Slovakia by Biocont, Eden's distribution partner in a number of central European countries, a leading specialist in biological and integrated crop protection solutions for the region's fruit and viticulture growers.
Slovakia has six designated wine-growing regions covering approximately 14,400 hectares of vineyard, producing around 332,000 hectolitres of wine annually and some 51,700 tonnes of wine grapes in 2025. Botrytis cinerea is the principal late-season disease pressure in the region, and Slovak vineyards are subject to the same tightening of conventional active substances as the rest of the EU, driving greater demand for residue-free biological alternatives. The approval strengthens both Eden's and Biocont's market position in Slovakia and supports their broader expansion of sustainable crop protection across the region.
Egypt
In Egypt, registration has been granted for use in grapes against Botrytis cinerea with no pre-harvest interval required. Registration was secured and will be commercialised by the Sipcam Oxon, Eden's shareholder and long-standing partner in Southern Europe and North Africa, through Sipcam Inagra S.A. and its subsidiary Sipcam Inagra Egypt. Eden and Sipcam continue to pursue registrations for the same product in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.
Egypt is one of the world's largest table grape producers and a significant exporter, with commercial table grape production of approximately 1.59 million tonnes in the 2024/25 marketing year, second only to citrus among Egyptian fruit crops. Grapes are grown from Alexandria in the north to Aswan in the south, giving an unusually long marketing window from May to November, and the European Union remains the principal destination for Egyptian exports. Because EU-bound fruit is subject to strict maximum residue limit and retailer requirements, the absence of a pre-harvest interval is a material commercial advantage: growers can apply the product immediately before harvest which translates into reduced crop loss due to disease-related damage. This is the first authorisation for Mevalone® in the important and growing North African region, a key supplier of fresh fruits and vegetables to European and local consumers, alike.

Based on plant-derived active ingredients, Mevalone®is a foliar biofungicide which initially targets a key disease affecting grapes and other high-value fruit and vegetable crops. It is a useful tool in crop defence programmes and is aligned with the requirements of integrated pest management programmes. It is approved for sale in a number of key countries whilst Eden and its partners pursue regulatory clearance in new territories thereby growing Eden's addressable market globally.
Cedroz™is a bionematicide that targets free living nematodes which are parasitic worms that affect a wide range of high-value fruit and vegetable crops globally. Cedroz is registered for sale on two continents and Eden's commercial collaborator, Eastman Chemical, is pursuing registration and commercialisation of this important new product in numerous countries globally.
Eden's seed treatment product (approval expected in 2026), Ecovelex was developed to safely tackle crop destruction caused by birds - a major cause of losses in maize and other crops. Ecovelex works by creating an unpleasant taste or odour that repels birds, leaving the seeds safely intact and the birds unaffected and free to find alternative food sources. The product is based on Eden's plant-derived chemistry, registered in the EU, US and elsewhere, and formulated using Eden's Sustaine® microencapsulation system.
Eden's Sustaine® encapsulation technology is used to harness the biocidal efficacy of naturally occurring chemicals produced by plants (terpenes) and can also be used with both natural and synthetic compounds to enhance their performance and ease-of-use. Sustaine microcapsules are naturally-derived, plastic-free, biodegradable micro-spheres derived from yeast. It is one of the only viable, proven and immediately registerable solutions to the microplastics problem in formulations requiring encapsulation.
