Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) announced that its licensee, Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., has appointed Michael "Zappy" Zapolin as Chief Executive Officer. Unbuzzd Wellness is the company behind unbuzzd, a dietary supplement beverage the company says accelerates alcohol metabolism, restores mental clarity and reduces hangover symptoms.
According to the announcement, Zapolin's mandate includes financing Unbuzzd Wellness, listing the company on a stock exchange, and then leading a nationwide commercial marketing and product rollout in the United States. Unbuzzd Wellness describes itself as a non-trading but fully reporting public issuer. The company stated that its transition to a publicly listed company is scheduled to go effective in the next quarter.
Former CEO Richard Buzbuzian will assist with the transition to a publicly listed company, the company said.
Executive Background
Zapolin began his career at Bear Stearns, where he became a Vice President, and was later involved in internet domains including Beer.com, Diamond.com and CreditCards.com. He has since invested in emerging industries including psychedelics and wellness, including through the Mushroom Investment Fund, and co-founded KetaMD, an at-home ketamine telemedicine company acquired by Braxia Scientific in 2022. He is a graduate of Boston University and Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management Program.

Clinical Study
Unbuzzd Wellness reports that the product was evaluated in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled crossover clinical trial. Results were published in the World Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research (2026, Vol. 12, Issue 3, pp. 446–467) and are available at https://zenodo.org/records/18873638.
According to the company, reported findings include:
- A rate of blood alcohol concentration reduction that was, on average for most participants, more than 40% faster within 30 minutes of consumption compared to control

- A statistically significant reduction in the heart rate elevation and blood pressure drop associated with intoxication
- A statistically significant reduction in hangover symptoms, including a reported 67% reduction in headache severity at four hours versus placebo
- No reported adverse side effects among study participants
The company notes that individual results may vary, that unbuzzd is a dietary supplement, and that consuming it after drinking alcohol does not make it safe to operate a vehicle.
