New platform enables architects, engineers, and construction professionals to identify potential building code issues before plans reach formal review
Torrance, CA, Sept. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Building code issues discovered late in the design process lead to additional reviews, plan revisions, and lost time. OFA Group (Nasdaq: OFAL) is bringing artificial intelligence into the process earlier with the commercial launch of PlanAId, an AI-assisted blueprint review platform designed to help architecture, engineering and construction professionals identify potential building-code issues while plans are still in development.
Developed from the real-world architectural experience of OFA Group, PlanAId applies artificial intelligence to one of the industry’s most time-consuming tasks: reviewing complex architectural drawings against building code requirements.
“Building code review is essential, but it requires professionals to spend significant time moving between drawings, calculations, and lengthy code requirements,” said Larry Wong, founder and chief executive officer of OFA Group. “PlanAId was created to give professionals another set of intelligent eyes during design, helping them identify potential issues earlier, when changes are easier and less disruptive to make.”
Shifting Code Review to Earlier in the Design-Build Process
Potential code issues emerge during internal reviews, consultant reviews, or after plans enter a formal review process. By that point, changes create additional work and affect project schedules. PlanAId moves more of that review upstream, enabling professionals to identify issues before formal submission of plans.
The PlanAId platform analyzes plans against defined building code requirements after users upload vector-based PDF drawings exported from AutoCAD. The initial commercial release of PlanAId focuses on selected California Building Code requirements. PlanAId is a solution to the protracted delays common in California's building permit process.
PlanAId capabilities include:
The platform is designed to reduce the time professionals spend manually cross-referencing drawings and code provisions, while also providing an opportunity to identify potential issues before plans are formally submitted.
“AI is most valuable when it helps skilled professionals spend less time on repetitive work and more time applying their expertise,” added Keith Chong, founder and chief technology officer of OFA Group. “PlanAId is not replacing the professional judgment of architects, code consultants, plan reviewers, or building authorities. It gives architects, designers, and engineers a faster way to surface issues while they can address them and before a costly delay.”
OFA Group is using its real-world architectural experience to develop technology that addresses one of the industry’s most time-consuming processes. PlanAId entered beta testing in October 2025 and, after validating its success, is now commercially available.
The launch price for individual users of PlanAId is $9.99 per month, with a free 30-day trial. Click here to begin the free trial.
