Plattsburgh, New York – July 27, 2026 – Norsk Titanium has been selected for its first ‘America Makes’ project, joining the Joint Additive Qualification for Sustainment – Supplier Qualification program (JAQS-SQ).
‘America Makes’ is the United States’ leading public-private partnership focused on advancing 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing (AM), established to make the U.S. globally competitive by accelerating technology adoption.
The fully funded 12-month JAQS-SQ project will enable Norsk Titanium to support qualification pathways for RPD® that accelerate broader adoption of additive manufacturing across defense applications. Upon completion of the project, Norsk Titanium will hold qualified status as a supplier of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy products across all U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) services. Norsk Titanium's RPD® Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy was recently accepted into the Metallic Materials Properties Development and Standardization (MMPDS) Handbook and used in aerospace applications.
This selection follows Norsk Titanium's recent award under the Defense Industrial Base Expansion, Development, and Growth Enterprise (DIB-EDGE) initiative, under which the Department of War committed $4.2 million to advance RPD® for submarine and maritime applications as part of its Industrial Base Policy. With heightened geopolitical tension and rising defense spending, the U.S. Department of War is seeking to close domestic capacity shortages across critical materials. With demand rising and traditional titanium supply chains facing long lead times, material constraints, and limited casting and forging capacity, Norsk Titanium’s RPD® technology provides a ready-now pathway to expand production with fast, more resilient, and scalable manufacturing solutions.
"Together, the two awards mark an important inflection point for our defense business, highlighting the increasing recognition of Norsk Titanium and RPD® as key enablers in addressing urgent manufacturing capacity challenges across the defense industrial base,” said Fabrizio Ponte, President and CEO of Norsk Titanium. "We are pleased to be selected for JAQS-SQ for titanium and will leverage this award to accelerate the adoption of RPD® as a scalable production solution also for mission-critical naval applications."
