Netnod today announced that the company’s Internet Exchange (IX) platform has set a new traffic record. Yesterday, peak traffic exceeded 3 Terabits per second (Tbps) across the Nordics. This marks a significant increase since the previous record in March 2026 and reflects the continued growth in traffic being exchanged directly between networks across the region.
The rapid increase from 2.5 Tbps in March to more than 3 Tbps demonstrates the growing volumes being handled by Netnod’s IX infrastructure. As digital services and data-intensive applications continue to expand, the ability for networks to exchange increasing volumes of traffic efficiently and resiliently is becoming ever more important.
Internet Exchanges provide the infrastructure that enables networks including Internet service providers, content providers, cloud platforms and other organisations to exchange traffic. By keeping traffic on efficient, direct paths, IX infrastructure plays an important role in improving performance, scalability and resilience.
