More Passengers at Avinor Airports in July – Strongest Growth in International Travel

A total of 5.1 million passengers travelled through Avinor airports in July. This represents a 1 per cent increase compared with the same month last year. The growth was primarily driven by an increase in international travel.

There were 5,135,009 passengers at Avinor airports in July, compared with 5,077,974 in the same month last year. The number of passengers on international routes increased by 2 per cent, while passenger numbers on domestic routes increased by 1 per cent.

So far this year, nearly 31 million passengers have travelled through Avinor airports. This is 2 per cent more than during the same period in 2025. International traffic has increased by 3 per cent year-to-date, while domestic traffic has grown by 1 per cent.

Aircraft Movements Remain Stable In July, there were 53,836 commercial aircraft movements at Avinor airports, an increase of 1 per cent compared with the same month last year.

International Travel Shows the Strongest Growth “Despite concerns related to possible strikes in the aviation sector, it has been a busy month at our airports. More people travelled to and from international destinations than in the same month last year, and the summer has been characterised by strong demand for travel both to and from Norway. Domestic passenger numbers are also higher than last year,” says Eirik Wæraas, Director of Traffic Development at Avinor.

“The growth at Bergen Airport continues, and there is strong interest in Western Norway as a destination among both Norwegian and international travellers. More than 4 million passengers have travelled to or from Bergen Airport, Flesland so far this year. That is 7 per cent more passengers than during the same period last year,” says Wæraas.

Large Variations Between Airports Passenger numbers at Oslo Airport were at the same level as in July last year, while Stavanger Airport experienced a slight decline. The two other largest airports, Bergen Airport and Trondheim Airport, recorded growth compared with last year.

At Bergen Airport, Flesland, passenger numbers increased by 7 per cent, while Trondheim Airport, Værnes recorded a 4 per cent increase. Regional airports also reported growth in passenger traffic.

Drone Operations

In July, a total of 2,268 drone operations were registered in Ninox Drone. This represents a decrease compared with July last year and is related to the transition to a new system for registering drone operations.
