Metsä Group is giving an unlimited one-year price guarantee on wood trade made by existing and new owner-members between 17 August and 15 October 2026, which may retroactively increase the price for pulpwood. In addition, Metsä Group will pay an additional one-euro bonus per cubic metre of log wood and pulpwood during the campaign.
The unlimited price guarantee is offered to Metsä Group's current owner-members, as well as any forest owners who join Metsä Group as owner-members and sell wood to the company between 17 August and 15 October 2026. The campaign’s price guarantee applies to the price for pulpwood.
The price guarantee provides financial security for forest owners: the price paid for pulpwood will be adjusted if prices rise after the wood trade is concluded and before the end of September 2027. Any additional payment will be made to the forest owner in December 2027. However, even if prices were to fall, the payment to the forest owner will not decrease.
In addition to the price guarantee, Metsä Group will pay an additional bonus of one euro per cubic metre of log wood and pulpwood during the campaign. The campaign bonus is paid on top of the regular bonus and can be claimed as cash in connection with the next wood trade, or used to pay for forest management work, for example.
“Demand for wood is high, and wood prices in Finland are at a very good level for forest owners compared with the situation over a longer period. We want to encourage forest owners to sell wood without worrying about possible future price changes and to offer better benefits to new owner-members as well,” says Juho Rantala, Metsä Group's SVP, Wood Trade and Forest Services.
“Metsä Group's comprehensive member benefits bring significant financial benefits to owner-members. Past earnings are no guarantee of future ones, but it’s worth bearing in mind that last year the financial benefit of the member benefits for our owner-members was more than nine euros per cubic metre purchased. Now is an excellent time to ensure the future growth and vitality of forests by selling wood. This also keeps production facilities that rely on wood going and helps keep the wheels of the whole society turning,” Rantala says.
In the price guarantee model, the price of wood is tied to Metsä Group’s regional price index, and you can monitor the development of the guarantee price for your own wood sales in the Metsäverkko service.
