This spring, Layer Group welcomed a new Regional Manager to Region South. With fresh perspectives, strong commitment and plenty of energy, Joachim Welin has quickly made his mark. He is now looking forward to getting to know the business even better and, together with his colleagues, continuing to develop Region South.
Joachim is naturally curious and enjoys understanding how things fit together. Getting to know his colleagues, the businesses and the customers has therefore been an important part of his first period as Regional Manager.
– I think it’s important to be curious and to genuinely try to understand the business. It’s about listening, asking questions and getting to know the people who drive our companies forward. Only then can you truly see how we can continue to develop together, says Joachim Welin.
Joachim also sees great opportunities in making use of the combined experience and expertise within Layer Group. With several regions and many different businesses, there is a great deal we can learn from one another. Joachim’s own experience from previous roles, most recently as CEO of listed Wall to Wall Group, has given him valuable insight into both the opportunities and the needs that come with being part of a group.
– To me, it’s a great strength that we have several regions and so many talented people within the group. We can share experiences, learn from one another and find good solutions together. It’s not about everyone doing things in the same way, but about making the most of what works well and seeing what we can learn from each other.
The idea that development happens together is a recurring theme when Joachim describes his way of working. At the same time, he is aware that building relationships, understanding a business and creating a shared direction takes time. He paints a picture of how everyone needs to contribute:
– You can think of it as rolling a large hay bale forward. If only one person is pushing, it will barely move at all. But the more people who help push, the more the hay bale starts to rock. Eventually, it gets rolling, and once it has gained momentum, it becomes easier to keep it moving. That’s exactly how I see development. Everyone needs to contribute and help each other.
If Joachim’s first period has largely been about getting to know the business and his colleagues, the next phase is more about making sure we don’t stand still. Layer Group and Region South are moving forward, and Joachim is firmly focused on heading in the same direction.
