Insight Partners And Glilot Capital Lead $20M Investment In Way Security As IAM Implementation Costs Mount

For years, enterprises have spent heavily on identity and access management software in an effort to strengthen security and control access across increasingly complex technology environments. Yet buying the technology is often only the beginning. The work required to configure, integrate and operate those systems can become a much larger undertaking, creating a persistent gap between what companies purchase and what they ultimately deploy.

As reported by Axios, Insight Partners and Glilot Capital are co-leading a $20 million investment in Way Security, a startup founded by former security leaders Yossi Barishev and Yonatan Rosenberg that is targeting this gap with an AI-powered, agentic approach to identity operations.

The company is taking aim at an IAM market where implementation and operational services can cost three to five times the price of the underlying software. Rather than building another platform designed to replace existing identity infrastructure, Way Security is developing software intended to automate much of the work required to make those investments deliver their expected value.

IAM's Unfinished Business

The enterprise identity market has no shortage of established technologies. The challenge, according to Way Security, is what happens after an organization buys them.

IAM implementations can take years to complete and run into seven- or eight-digit cost figures, while still falling short of their original objectives. The complexity of large organizations, combined with the number of applications and systems that must be brought under identity controls, often creates a need for extensive consulting and professional services support.

That has helped create an IAM services ecosystem that, according to the company, has grown larger than the software market it supports.

Way Security's thesis is that this imbalance represents a structural problem rather than simply an implementation inconvenience. If identity is becoming the primary control plane for enterprise security, then organizations need a more efficient way to operationalize identity systems across their environments.

The company is not positioning its technology as a replacement for the IAM platforms enterprises already own. Instead, its platform is designed to work with existing investments and automate the operational layer that sits between purchasing an identity platform and deploying it across the organization.

According to Way Security, the platform can help organizations extend identity controls across different identities and systems without requiring custom integrations, manual workflows or ongoing dependence on application owners.

Its agentic execution capabilities are trained on real-world IAM workflows and implementation patterns, with the goal of automating activities associated with lifecycle management, access governance, authentication and policy enforcement.

The strategy is particularly relevant to organizations with complicated technology environments, where identity programs must account for applications that were never designed to integrate easily with modern IAM systems.

Way Security's founders built the company around their own experience working on the operational challenges associated with enterprise security and identity.

Barishev and Rosenberg spent years helping large enterprises navigate identity, governance and security initiatives. They also advised Fortune 500 organizations and led enterprise security organizations from within, experiences that exposed them to the gap between the technology organizations acquire and the systems they can realistically operationalize.

Their backgrounds also include incident response work involving some of the world's most significant cyber incidents. In those situations, weak identity controls repeatedly emerged as a root cause or critical enabler of successful attacks.

Rosenberg additionally served as an officer in Israel's Unit 8200, bringing an offensive security perspective to a founding team that combines identity, defensive security and operational experience.

The founders' argument is that identity is too important to remain dependent on an implementation model that can be slow, expensive and heavily manual.

The company says its platform extends IAM coverage to legacy, homegrown and custom applications that do not support standard federation protocols. Way Security connects those applications to the IGA, IdP and authentication controls organizations already own, allowing capabilities such as single sign-on, multifactor authentication, lifecycle management and access reviews to operate across a broader portion of the enterprise environment.

That approach reflects the company's broader position that the problem is not necessarily a lack of identity technology. Instead, the challenge is making existing technology work across the full range of systems an organization actually operates.

The new funding will support Way Security's plans to expand aggressively in the U.S. while continuing to invest in its identity operations platform.
