hereFollowing the update of its sustainable finance framework, Hemsö has issued its first bond under the EU Green Bond Standard.
On 23 April 2026, Hemsö launched a new European Green Bond Factsheet, becoming the first major Nordic real estate company to align with the European standard for green bonds. Hemsö’s European Green Bond Factsheet has been reviewed by Moody’s Ratings, which considers it to be aligned with the European Green Bond Regulation and has assigned it an SQS2 (Very Good) score.
The first bond issued under the standard amounts to SEK 1.3 billion and has a five-year maturity. An amount equivalent to the proceeds will be used to finance or refinance properties that are fully aligned with the EU Taxonomy.
”This is an important milestone for Hemsö. Energy efficiency has long been a key part of our sustainability efforts, and being able to issue bonds under the European Green Bond Standard is a natural next step. The standard sets high requirements both for the assets being financed and for transparency towards investors”, says Carl-Johan Strandberg, Group Treasurer at Hemsö.
Swedbank, Nordea and Handelsbanken acted as Joint Lead Managers for the issuance. The transaction attracted strong interest from Nordic investors, with participation from, among others, Swedbank Robur, Handelsbanken Fonder, Nordea Investment Management and Storebrand Asset Management.
Hemsö will report annually on the allocation of the proceeds and disclose the environmental impact of the assets financed, in accordance with the EU Green Bond Standard.
