Harry Peltonen has been appointed Chief Risk Officer and Head of Risk & Compliance at the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), effective 1 October 2026. He will join the Bank's Executive Committee and continue to lead NIB's Risk & Compliance Department following a period as Acting Head.
Prior to joining NIB in 2013, Harry Peltonen held several senior banking positions at Handelsbanken Finland, including Head of Asset Management, Head of Credit (Handelsbanken Finance), Head of Corporate Financing (HF) and Branch Manager of the Kamppi branch.
“Harry has been serving as Acting Head since July 2026, providing strong leadership and continuity during the transition period. In his previous role as Senior Director, Head of Credit, he played a key role in strengthening the Bank's risk management capabilities and supporting sound decision-making across the organisation. Harry brings extensive experience, deep expertise in business and risk management, as well as a strong understanding of NIB's mission,” says André Küüsvek, President and CEO of NIB.
“After more than 13 years with NIB, I know the institution well and have great confidence in its people and culture. The Bank benefits from a strong mandate fulfilment and financial performance, a risk-aware organisation, robust governance and excellent second-line functions. While we want to continue to even further improve and develop our risk management practises, I believe we are exceptionally well positioned to do so because of the professionalism, expertise and strong risk culture that already exist throughout the bank,” says Harry Peltonen.
Harry Peltonen has led the Risk & Compliance Department as Acting Head since July 2026, when Jacob Kooter Laading left NIB to take up the role of Head of the Office of Risk Management at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
