Eiffage has been awarded in consortium the contract to build
two waste-to-energy plants in Limoges and Grenoble
in a deal worth close to €162 million (Eiffage share)

Eiffage, through its subsidiaries Eiffage Génie Civil and Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, has been awarded several contracts for the construction of new waste-to-energy plants in Limoges and Grenoble, in a deal worth a total €393 million (Eiffage share of close to €162 million).

Limoges energy-recovery facility

Limoges Métropole has assigned the design-build contract for this energy-recovery facility to a consortium led by Soval, a subsidiary of Veolia (lead contractor), Eiffage Génie Civil and the architects HOBO for a total amount of €148 million (Eiffage Génie Civil share of €34 million).

Eiffage Génie Civil, with support from Eiffage Construction, will be responsible for earthworks, roads and utilities, landscaping, foundations, structural and metallic work, the building envelope, and construction of administrative buildings and a maintenance gallery.

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes has been assigned a €33 million subcontract covering the installation of all energy-production equipment, hydraulic circuits, electrical systems and the centralised control system.

The new facility will process 95,000 tonnes of waste a year, generating 110 GWh of steam and 45 GWh of electricity annually to enhance energy autonomy across the wider Limoges region. Work will begin in early 2027, with commissioning in 2029.

Grenoble energy-recovery facility

Eiffage Génie Civil leads a consortium that also includes Eiffage Construction, Fayat Fondations (Franki, Séfi), Cancé, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes and Streiff, selected by Grenoble-Alpes Métropole and six other local authorities in Sud-Isère. The contract is worth a total €77 million (Eiffage share of €62 million) and covers construction (excluding process‑related work) of a new incineration and energy-recovery facility on the Athanor site in La Tronche.

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, in partnership with the lead contractor Keppel Seghers, also secured the energy-recovery works package, worth a total of €168 million (Eiffage share of €33 million).

Built on the existing site, this new installation will be capable of processing 165,000 tonnes of waste a year. The energy produced will power local urban heat networks, with part of the output also converted into electricity for self-consumption and export to the wider Grenoble region. Work, which began earlier this year, with commissioning due by the end of 2029, will be completed by the end of 2031.

These new contracts validate Eiffage’s strategy of establishing itself as a go-to partner in waste-to-energy infrastructure. Along with recent contracts in Toulouse, Villers-Saint-Paul, Labeuvrière, Taden and Ivry-sur-Seine, these projects are testament to the Group’s solid ability to support local authorities through their environmental and energy transitions.
