Sandnes, Norway, 20 August 2026 - Desert Control (OSE: DSRT), a leader in soil and water conservation technology, announces the completion of a third Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) application at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), extending a collaboration that began with a field trial in August 2024 and bringing the total treated area on the campus to approximately eight acres.
The initial trial treated the university's practice softball field, beginning August 2024. Over a trial period of less than four months, irrigation on the treated area was reduced by approximately 50% while turf quality was maintained.
The irrigation reduction was reported by CSUF Landscape Services Manager Hans Mickelson and measured against evapotranspiration baselines from the California Irrigation Management Information System weather station serving the campus.
Irrigation events in the treated area were triggered by soil moisture sensors at a minimum threshold of 10%, reducing irrigation frequency from approximately weekly to approximately once every three weeks. The reduction was achieved during summer months in which temperatures exceeded 100°F (38°C).
Each application was delivered as a vendor-applied service through the campus's existing irrigation infrastructure, using a Desert Control mobile production unit.
James Thomas, CEO of Desert Control, commented, "A third application at the same site is a strong signal. CSUF compared treated and untreated fields on their own ground, using their own data, and chose to expand. That decision carries more weight than anything we could say about the product ourselves"
Institutional turf and landscape sites represent a defined commercial segment for Desert Control in Southern California, where water costs have risen at rates exceeding inflation and grounds teams operate under fixed maintenance budgets.
Repeat applications at established sites shorten planning and delivery cycles and extend the period over which irrigation performance can be measured.
