There is strong interest in the Kv. Garbo new construction project in central Sundbyberg. All apartments released to date have been reserved. The project has also attracted interest from businesses looking to establish a presence in the development’s commercial premises.
To mark the start of the Kv. Garbo project, property owner Fastighets AB Balder hosted a lunchtime event on Tuesday, attended by representatives from architectural firm DinellJohansson, BRA Bygg and Sundbyberg municipality, among others. It was an opportunity to reflect on the site’s history and highlight the project, which will once again make it a place that people value and enjoy visiting.
On their way into the event, guests symbolically passed through a preserved door from Greta, the pub that was part of the well-known Grand Garbo nightclub. On the other side was the construction site for the new Kv. Garbo. Guests listened to speeches, and during the ceremony a time capsule was filled with mementoes from the site and messages for the future – a way of linking the past, present and future.
“We at Balder are delighted by the positive response to the project and by the opportunity to contribute to the development of central Sundbyberg. Kv. Garbo is a project with high ambitions in terms of both architecture and housing quality. The aim is to create a neighbourhood with a timeless character and enduring quality,” says Hugo Dammert, Regional Head of Property Development at Balder.
The tenant-owner apartments are being released for sale in phases, and all those offered to date have been reserved. Planning is now under way for the upcoming sales phases. The ground-floor premises have also attracted attention, even though letting has not yet begun.
“We are very much looking forward to seeing this site, which is closely associated with Sundbyberg’s entertainment history, being brought back to life. The architectural design will also add valuable qualities to our city,” says Stefan Bergström, Chair of Sundbyberg Municipality’s Urban Development and Business Committee.
Kv. Garbo will comprise 64 tenant-owner apartments, ranging from one to five rooms and a kitchen, with a wide variety of layouts. These range from homes with the feel of urban townhouses with private entrances, to larger apartments with generous roof terraces. The apartments feature well-considered layouts and carefully selected materials. The project also includes a garage and shared amenities including a gym, communal room and guest apartment, as well as commercial premises on the ground floor contributing to a vibrant block.
