Carrefour announces the sale of a real estate portfolio of 35 stores in France and Spain to a joint venture between Atrato and GIC, a leading global investor, in the form of a sale and leaseback transaction.
This transaction is fully aligned with the value creation and real estate asset rotation strategy outlined in the Carrefour 2030 plan, allowing the Group to crystallize the value of its real estate assets.
The portfolio comprises 32 assets in France (26 Carrefour Market supermarkets and 6 hypermarkets) and 3 hypermarkets in Spain. The total net seller value of the transaction amounts to approximately €290 million.
Carrefour will continue to operate all of these stores without interruption. The newly established leases, which feature an initial term of 12 years — including a 10-year firm, non-cancellable commitment — preserve the operational flexibility necessary for the operation of the stores.
The transaction, which will generate a significant capital gain for the Group, will have no material impact on Recurring Operating Income.
