BPC Instruments partners with limu.eco to evaluate additives for biodegradable plastics

Lund, Sweden, 23 September 2026 – BPC Instruments AB (publ) (“BPC”) has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with limu.eco GmbH, a Swiss clean-tech company developing additives from aquatic biomass for biodegradable plastics and other material applications. Under the agreement, BPC will act as limu.eco’s external technical partner for biodegradability evaluation. Laboratory testing will be carried out using BPC^® Blue, BPC’s closed-chamber respirometry system. The work will include analytical documentation and data interpretation to support limu.eco’s internal research and selected external customer projects.

As biodegradable plastics and new material additives move closer to commercial use, material developers need reliable data to understand how formulations perform under defined conditions. The rate and extend of biodegradation can vary with material composition, environment conditions and test setup, so independent biodegradability assessment is important for product development and customer evaluation.                      

For limu.eco, this means assessing how its additives derived from aquatic biomass can improve the biological breakdown of biodegradable plastics. BPC will support that evaluation through independent testing and interpretation in accordance with established biodegradability and compostability test protocols, providing data for limu.eco’s product development and for customers assessing the additives for use in their own materials and applications.
