Terra XPS (extruded polystyrene), containing at least 50 per cent recycled material, becomes the standard for XPS supplied by BEWI across the Nordics. Performance and areas of use remain unchanged.
Terra XPS becomes the standard for all XPS supplied by BEWI for construction in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. The insulation boards contain minimum 50 per cent recycled post-consumer EPS and XPS. Customers can continue to use the same specifications, ordering routines and working methods as before.
“We work to always offer our customers efficient solutions,” says Karl-Erik Olesen, Head of Insulation Division in BEWI. “By making Terra XPS the standard rather than a separate alternative, we make the choice easier for our customers. They can continue to use the XPS they know, while recycled content becomes part of the standard offer.”
Terra XPS was introduced in Norway in 2024 and quickly became BEWI’s standard XPS for applications such as floor slabs and flat roofs. It has since been supplied to several residential and commercial projects. The Nordic rollout builds on this experience.
BEWI collects around 40 000 tonnes of used EPS annually for recycling and brings the material back into the value chain. At BEWI’s recycling facilities used EPS is converted into recycled raw material, rGPPS, which is used in new products, such as Terra XPS. Together, BEWI’s collection, recycling and production capabilities enable recycled material to be used in new insulation solutions.
