As part of the implementation of BE Group’s strategy, BE Group plans to further strengthen its sheet metal processing offering in Finland by consolidating expertise, capacity, and future investments at its facility in Lapua. The ambition is to create an even stronger and more competitive offering for both existing and new customers, while at the same time laying the foundation for continued growth in value-added products and services.
The plan includes relocating laser cutting, together with associated bending and CNC machining operations, from Lahti to Lapua, as well as moving heavy plate cutting operations from Turku to Lapua. By concentrating these activities, a stronger center of expertise and production will be created, offering broader capacity, greater flexibility, and enhanced ability to meet customers’ growing demand for advanced sheet metal processing.
Today, BE Group provides sheet metal cutting and processing services tailored to customers’ specific requirements. Through the investment in Lapua, the company will be able to further develop this offering and assume a larger role in customers’ value chains - from material supply to more comprehensive and customized processing solutions. For customers, this means access to consolidated expertise and capacity, a broader service offering, and improved conditions for efficient and competitive solutions.
The initiative also creates opportunities for BE Group to grow within sheet metal processing, increase the share of value-added products and services, and attract new customer segments and business opportunities. A more concentrated production structure will also provide better conditions for future investments, increased automation, and more efficient capacity utilization.
At the same time, the planned changes will strengthen BE Group’s cost efficiency and are expected to generate annual cost savings of approximately SEK 20 M, with full effect from 2028. The implementation is expected to require investments of approximately SEK 18 M and is also anticipated to result in one-off restructuring costs.
The changes may affect the employment or employment conditions of up to 40 employees. Negotiations will be conducted in accordance with Finnish legislation, and decisions regarding the changes and their impact on employees will be made after the negotiations have been completed.
An updated assessment of the restructuring and its financial effects will be provided in connection with the publication of the interim report for the third quarter.
