Baseload Capital is entering its next phase, sharpening its focus on local markets and moving towards a leaner, more capital-efficient operating model. As part of this transition, Erik Brandberg has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. He succeeds Alexander Helling, who co-founded Baseload in 2017 and has led the company since its inception.

Baseload Capital was founded with the ambition to accelerate the deployment of geothermal energy globally. Since then, the company has established an international platform, including partnerships and commissioned projects across several geothermal markets.
As Baseload enters its next phase, the company will focus its resources on the markets and opportunities where it sees the clearest path to long-term value creation, continuing its ambition to make geothermal energy investable.
“I am incredibly proud of what the Baseload team has built over the past years,” says Alexander Helling. “There is still enormous, untapped potential in geothermal globally, and I am convinced that Baseload has an important role to play in unlocking it. Erik has been part of this journey from the beginning, and I feel confident that he and the team will take Baseload into its next phase.”
Erik Brandberg has been part of Baseload’s journey from the start and brings more than a decade of experience in investment and company building, including within the energy sector.
“Baseload has built a combination of geothermal expertise, investment capabilities and experience across multiple markets,” says Erik Brandberg, CEO of Baseload Capital. “Our focus now is to build on that foundation while becoming more strategic in how and where we deploy our resources. We see an opportunity to connect capital with strong geothermal projects and local developers, matching the right investors with the right opportunities, at the right stage.”
Going forward, Baseload will prioritize working with strong local developers and partners, rather than building extensive organizations around every opportunity. Its central capabilities will increasingly concentrate on identifying and evaluating geothermal investment opportunities and connecting them with the right capital and expertise.
The transition also entails a leaner central organization. As the market for growth capital has changed materially in recent years, Baseload is adapting its cost base and allocation of resources accordingly.
“The underlying opportunity for geothermal is as compelling as ever,” Brandberg continues. “What is changing is how we position Baseload to capture it. We are creating a more focused and financially disciplined Baseload, concentrating our resources where they can have the greatest impact.”
Baseload’s long-term owners remain actively engaged and supportive through the transition.
