September is awareness month for pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)
The 2026 Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Campaign builds on the established “Breathing Life” framework focusing on the importance of earlier diagnosis in pulmonary fibrosis. At the heart of the campaign is the tagline Don’t normalise breathlessness – question it.
IPF is a devastating disease in which healthy lung tissue is replaced by scar tissue. Patients lose lung function and struggle to breathe. Current medicines may slow the disease progression, but cannot stop or reverse it and are often poorly tolerated. Lung stiffness worsens over time, limiting everyday activities and exacerbating symptoms such as chronic cough. A fundamentally new approach is urgently needed.
Investor and industry interest is high and accelerating as described recently in Pulmonary Fibrosis News, citing an article of the non-profit organisation CheckOrphan. Disease progression needs to be stopped. Existing treatments fail to address the underlying biological drivers of fibrosis. OXC-201, which addresses the root cause of IPF, has potential to change this.

About Oxcia
Oxcia AB is a clinical-stage biotech company pioneering therapies that target key drivers of many diseases, using its proprietary O2-DDR platform (Oxidative stress, Oxidative DNA damage, and DNA Damage Response (DDR)). The platform has so far generated two first-in-class drug candidates: OXC-101, currently in clinical development for acute myeloid leukemia with both FDA and EMA Orphan Drug Designations, and OXC-201, a novel treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis supported by European Innovation Council funding. By addressing major unmet medical needs through a differentiated scientific approach, Oxcia aims to deliver transformative therapies to make life less short, creating significant value for patients and investors.
