Arlanda named the most punctual airport in Europe this summer

Sweden’s largest airport Stockholm Arlanda Airport has been named Europe’s most punctual airport this summer, according to Eurocontrol. A strong collaboration between all airport stakeholders was the key to the high result during the year’s busiest travel period.

“It is very encouraging that, through a close teamwork with airlines and ground handling companies, Arlanda achieved the highest punctuality among comparable airports in Europe during the most challenging period of the year. This confirms that the strengthened punctuality efforts we have undertaken together with our partners are showing results. We will now continue our joint efforts to maintain the highest possible level of punctuality for our passengers,” says Mats Johannesson, Swedavia´s President and CEO.

A key element of the strengthened punctuality initiative is a shared focus on morning departures, which set the conditions for the aircraft rotations throughout the rest of the day. The same focus applies at Arlanda, Landvetter and Swedavia’s eight other airports. An efficient start to the day reduces the risk of delays and knock-on effects later on.

Facts
Eurocontrol, the European organization responsible for aviation safety and air traffic management, measured punctuality at Europe’s 40 busiest airports between 1^st of June until 31^st of August. Stockholm Arlanda Airport ranked first, with an on-time performance of 82.1 per cent. Oslo Gardermoen and Istanbul Airport in Türkiye ranked second and third, respectively.
