Åkersberga Golf Club and Smartports have signed an agreement for a new energy hub featuring 12 weather-protected parking spaces, 12 EV charging points, solar power generation and battery storage.
Åkersberga Golf Club continuously works to develop its facilities and improve the experience for its members and visitors. Through its partnership with Smartports, an existing parking area will be transformed into productive and sustainable energy infrastructure.
– We want to continue developing Åkersberga Golf Club and create a modern and attractive facility for our members and guests. With this solution, we can combine EV charging and weather-protected parking with local renewable energy generation, says Peter Wissinger, CEO of Åkersberga Golf Club.
The new energy hub will comprise 12 parking spaces with integrated solar panels, 12 EV charging points and battery storage. The solution will make it possible to generate, store and use energy locally, while providing visitors with EV charging and protection from sun, rain and snow.
– Parking areas have significant potential to become an important part of the energy system of the future. Together with Åkersberga Golf Club, we are creating a local energy hub where solar power, battery storage and EV charging work together in one place, says Johan Gren, COO of Smartports Sweden.
The partnership demonstrates how existing parking areas can be used to generate local energy and create mobility and long-term value without requiring additional land.
Smartports was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in Örebro, Sweden. The company transforms parking areas into local energy hubs by combining solar power, EV charging and battery storage. By using existing spaces rather than undeveloped land, its solutions contribute to the energy transition and create long-term value for property owners, businesses and local communities.
